Grow Your Own Mangoes?

Dear gardening friends
When you plant trees you’re not thinking about nature. You’re thinking about shade and privacy.
But as the trees grow, and you get older, and you need less sleep, you and start to hear the birds. You suddenly realise, you’ve created a haven for nature.
The sounds of nature makes us feel good. The colour green, the sounds and smells of nature, the peace and quiet.
I wanted to share that with you. If you’re a gardener you already know.
If you’re not a gardener, hope that a gardener moves next door. Don’t complain about their messy leaves in autumn. Those trees are helping you survive too.
Just had a customer looking for a ground cover that they could plant under trees. They wanted something low maintenance and colourful. I instantly thought of "Tricolour Star Jasmine".
This amazing hardy plant covers the ground with these beautiful colourful leaves, that are pink, white and green.
It's super hardy, it will grow in full sun or part shade. It can even grow in pots.
It can produce fragrant white flowers in spring, but it's really grown for its colourful foliage. Plant them 500mms apart and you'll have coverage quickly in spring.
We have plants here. This is a Landscapers plant.
I really haven’t been telling people to fertilise their lawns this spring, because it was just so dry. But
It’s time to fertilise your lawn now, after that amazing rain. We’ve got this spectacular fertiliser that will turn your grass bright green in just 14 days.
Tim’s Rapid Results Lawn food contains 21% Nitrogen, it wakes up your lawn. It contains a wetting agent so it washes into the soil.
The easy to carry 4kg bag will fertilise 260m2.
Throw it on by hand or use a fertiliser spreader, you can’t burn your lawn with this product. It’s safe for all types of grass including soft leaf Buffalo.
Our customers who use this fertiliser absolutely love it. It costs $29.99 or 2 for $59.00
Spotted this Mango tree growing in Camden yesterday. It’s covered in flowers so it’s going to produce hundreds of Mangoes. Mangoes fruit later in Macarthur, these won’t ripen until March.
Customers often ask me for dwarf Mango trees. This tree in the photo would be 20 years old and it’s only 4ms x 4ms. It’s not dwarf, the shorter growing season in Macarthur means they don’t grow into huge trees like in Queensland.
We sell over 100 Mango trees every season. Bowen Mango or Kensington Pride (it’s the same mango sold under different names), it’s the sweetest tasting.
If you’re planting a Mango tree don’t just dig a hole in the clay, it won’t grow. Tip a bag or two of Tim’s Best Potting mix onto the soil. Dig this into the ground then make a mound. Plant your Mango tree in this mound.
Water twice weekly with a bucket of water.
A seedling Mango fruits just as quickly as a grafted Mango tree. They flower when they are as tall as you.
It’s better to remove the fruit for a couple of years so the energy goes into more growth.
When the Mango tree does flower it will produce more fruit if you spray the flowers with a fungicide. If it rains when your tree flowers most rot and fall off. The fungicide stops this happening.
Come see us.
We had so many phone calls from gardeners all over Sydney wanting to know if our Giant Black Passionfruit have arrived. These amazing cutting grown plants don’t sucker like grafted varieties, yet they still give you huge sweet tasting fruit.
Plant them on a mound of Tim’s Best Potting mix improved soil, yes dig a bag into your garden then plant your vine in this.
Water twice weekly with a bucket of water and it will grow so fast you’ll get a big surprise. It will cover your ugly fence with tropical green foliage.
The most spectacular flowers will soon follow then the sweet tasting fruit. You’ll be making Pavlovas for dinner, life has never been this good.
Tim’s Big Black Passionfruit cost $19.99.
You only need one to get fruit, more vines, more fruit.
Our potted Rose bushes are all coming into flower now so it’s a great time to choose your roses. You can choose the colours you love, and smell the flowers, to choose the most fragrant varieties. You can also look at the leaves and choose the most disease resistant plants.
Happy gardening
Tim
