Grass fleas are back! - Dec 02, 2011

Grass fleas are back in Macarthur for Christmas attacking the legs of home owners. Grass fleas are not the same fleas that attack pets at this time of year. Grass Fleas breed in long grass during hot humid weather. After the recent rain conditions are perfect so the fleas are in plague proportions.

To prevent Grass Fleas you need to mow your lawn at least every week. Let it go for 2 weeks and you are inviting Grass Fleas to come and live at your place. Once you have Grass Fleas you will need to mow your lawn and then spray it with Baythroid. This product also controls African black beetle in your lawn. Baythroid is available from nurseries. As more Grass fleas hatch you may have to reapply in 7 days time.

If you are going on holidays over the Christmas break ask you neighbour to mow your lawn for you. Fugal diseases also attack lawns at this time of year so if you have problems take a lawn sample to your local nursery.
