Christmas Trees Are Coming!!!! - Nov 22, 2024

Dear gardening friends
A swimming friend of mine sent me a photo of his Gardenias this morning. I asked him how swimming was going? "Terrible" he told me, "I've lost form."
I can give you stroke correction, he laughed.

I am a swimmer too and I've got a dodgy shoulder so I don't look like a swimmer. I mentioned to my wife that I should get a swimming lesson. You know how you say these things without really meaning them.

Well my birthday came up a few days later and I'd been given a voucher for a swimming lesson. I rang the lady, she was from a famous swimming family, "see you Saturday morning" she said.

I turned up, get your swimmers on she told me. I'll meet you at the pool. I met her at the pool 5 mins later in my speedos. I noticed there was a squad of 10 year olds waiting too. My private lesson turned out to be not so private. She's signed me up to her swimming squad!!!!

I dived in, I wasn't going to let 10 year olds beat me. We swam 50 laps non stop, I nearly had a heart attack.

Then when we finally stopped, she told us to do 10 more laps as a "warm down."
I was having palpitations.

See you next week she commanded. I hadn't had one stroke correction, not one tip. I was exhausted. It was like that BIG movie with Tom Hanks.
I never went back.

We have Gardenias, you need a least one in your garden or grow it in a big pot. The fragrance is amazing. I love them.

I snapped this photo this morning of this Echinacea "Double Scoop" growing here in our nursery. This is one of Hayden's favourite plants. He often grows it his his veggie gardens, this one is growing in a pot.
You'll notice his garden in the background.

Echinacea are super hardy perennial plants that flower through summer and autumn. You cut them off at almost ground level, in early spring, then they sprout fresh new growth and come back to life.

The flowers are spectacular and they can be cut for vases. These double flowering varieties have these spiky cones like a hedge hog.

These quirky plants have a cult following. People who buy them are usually dressed differently, they might have purple hair or orange. Glasses to match often. Arty types.

They are always disappointed when you don't have them in stock. But these plants are very seasonal.
We have them now, there's no need to get purple hair first, we won't judge you. But a bit of colour would be nice. Harem pants optional.
We have several colours available.

We are getting lots of calls about Christmas trees.
Yes they are coming next weekend. We will have them on Saturday 30th of November and Sunday 1st December. Come early to get the biggest trees.
They make your house smell like Christmas.
The pine fragrance is amazing!!!!!

We will have fresh cut Christmas trees the following weekend too. We have Christmas tree stands too.

When we think about Grape vines we think about messy vines that could possibly strangle you when you fall asleep. But if they are trained like this one along a wire so they aren't actually attached to your timber they can be grown to provide shade and shelter from the summer sun.

This is how they grow Grape vines in Jugiong. I've seen them trimmed neatly like this in Italy too. Grape vines fruit off new growth and you need so little growth to get grapes.

If you don't want the Grapes you can grow an Ornamental Grape vine. We have these too.
Ornamental Grape vines get amazing autumn foliage which is another benefit. You can also eat the leaves and make Dolmades. I've made these and they are delicious. Anchovies are the secret ingredient.

If your garden is too hot to enjoy on those hot summer days, see if you can train a Grape vine like this one. You can make an extra room for your family to enjoy at very little cost.

We have amazing advanced Grape vines here for $39.99. It's a great time to plant them because this is when they grow. Plant them on a raised mound of Tim's Best Potting mix improved soil.

NSW Christmas bush has arrived and we've got beautiful big bushy plants covered in red flowers just in time for Christmas. Plants cost $39.99.
They make amazing floral Christmas Gifts.
We gift wrap them for free.
We always sell out.

We have lots of Christmas Gifts here, come and see us for hassle free Christmas shopping and easy parking.

Happy gardening
Tim
