We Are Open All Long Weekend! - Oct 05, 2024
Dear gardening friends
Exciting news Bonsai lovers!!!!!!
Campbelltown Bonsai Club is coming to Tim's Garden Centre this Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Members are bringing some of their favourite plants to show you.
They will answer all your questions and give you advice about repotting and growing these amazing plants. You might like to join the Bonsai Club. They are looking for new members.
It's worth coming just to see their beautiful Bonsai. Some are over 40 years old but they look 100.
You will find them in the shade house.
It's Rose Week. You might notice that all the Roses in your garden are bursting into bloom this week. Our Roses are bursting into bloom too.
This is the week when everyone falls in love with their roses. Post photos of your roses on our facebook page, share your love for Roses.
We have over 100 varieties here, and they are all in flower today. It's the perfect time to choose a Rose bush for your garden. You can Iook at the foliage, you can smell the flowers, and choose the most fragrant variety.
I had a customer ask me how much our Roses were yesterday. He got a surprise when I said they were $39.99. He thought that was expensive.
But then I told him he couldn't buy a bunch of cut flowers for that price. Isn't that crazy, you can buy a Rose bush cheaper than a dozen roses. Our Rose bushes will give you a dozen Roses in the next four weeks.
But come quickly, remember it's Rose week.
We sell over 100 Roses a week, and the most popular varieties always sell out first.
Spotted this Leucospermum cordifolium flowering through the fence of this grand old house in Narellan.
I've often thought how magnificent this house could be if it was all done up, but it's probably going to be a block of units in the future.
I've seen these Leucospermum flowering in all parts of Sydney. They are in the same family as Grevilleas so they have thrived during this recent dry spell. But even native plants will be enjoying this rain.
They are often called a Pin Cushion shrub. This plant is fully grown, and it's looking spectacular!!!
The native birds love these nectar filled flowers.
Surprisingly they are not native to Australia.
They come from Africa, but they are in the same family as Grevilleas and Waratahs.
We have beautiful plants in stock today. They are covered in buds, about to burst into bloom. Just come and ask for a Pin Cushion shrub.
We have potted them up into bigger pots for you.
This will help them grow faster. We've used Native Potting mix. If you want your plant to grow faster dig a bag of Native potting mix into your garden, then plant your Leucospermum.
Water daily to get it started. Once established they can survive on rainwater. If you're growing one in a pot, they need constant water, especially in summer.
Do you have a Rosemary plant in your garden?
I grew my Rosemary plant in this large terracotta pot, and it's grown so beautifully here for at least 10 years.
I use Rosemary almost every night with my cooking, it's the herb I use the most. It goes beautifully with Lamb or Pork. It's great in curries and casseroles too. It's great on baked potatoes and Chicken. It's great on everything!!!!!
If you grow your Rosemary plant in a big pot like mine, you can take it with you, if you ever move house. I've grown mine using Tim's Best Potting mix.
A couple of weeks ago I top dressed the potting mix with some new Tim's Best Potting mix. I only used about 2-3cms. You can see what's happened, the Rosemary has responded with fresh new growth.
Why did this happen? When you topdress your old plants with Tim's Best potting mix it makes the existing potting mix hold more water. The finer particles wash down into the cracks. Now the water has to pass through the potting mix to get out.
Tims Best Potting mix also has added fertiliser that feeds your plants for up to 7 months. It's amazing.
If you've got a potted Rosemary bush apply Tims Best Pottjng mix now. Apply it to your other potted plants too.
We have Rosemary plants available today. We have all your other favourite herbs too. They make such a difference to your cooking.

We are open every day over the long weekend. Saturday 8.30-5pm, Sunday and Monday it's 9-4pm. It's going to be amazing weather for gardening. Come and walk through our nursery, it will make you feel good.
Happy gardening
Tim
