Fix Posties Skid Mark Now! - Aug 02, 2024
Dear gardening friends
It's time to plant Grape vines. I just wanted to show you how fabulous Grape vines can look. They will even look fabulous in small gardens. The lush green foliage in spring will make you feel good. The textured bark on the trunk, will make it look like it's been there for 100 years.
In summer you'll sit under the shade of your Grape vine and look up in wonder. You'll feel 10 degrees cooler. You'll find yourself sitting outside having coffee or a glass of wine.
In late summer you'll get Grapes. Of course you can eat the leaves and make Dolmades. They are delicious.
In autumn you'll get foliage colour, if you plant the Ornamental Grape you'll get amazing red foliage.
It's time to plant Grape vines now. We have all the best table grape varieties. We've gone for the seedless Grapes.
These fast growing deciduous vines are perfect for covering western facing pergolas. They will shade you from the hot summer sun. They will produce sweet seedless fruit too.
Yes we keep the seedless varieties like Sultana, Black Sultana, Ruby, Crimson Seedless, Menindee Seedless. We do have a few old favourites like Black Muscat and Red Globe. These do have seeds. Grape Vines cost $39.99.
They always sell out fast.
It's funny how plants bring back memories. But this Rondeletia has burst into bloom here today, and it's reminded me of The Birminghams.
They lived across the road from us in Rydalmere. They had this shrub growing in their front garden. It grew into a big bushy shrub and it had these beautiful fragrant flowers all through winter and spring. You never see it in nurseries now, but we have some.
Our street was full of boys, and we played all sports on my father's front lawn. Every afternoon at least 10 kids turned up to play. It was rough. You could get tackled into a rose bush.
The Birmingham girl started coming over and watching us play, one day we asked her if she wanted to play. She did. She was the last one picked in the team that day. We'd never seen her play sport before, she was a rookie.
The ball got kicked to her at kick off, we didn't really know how to tackle girls, we were boys. She caught the ball and ran straight through everyone. We got more serious after that. We actually started to try and tackle her.
She had a massive fend that nearly knocked your teeth out, her clothes got ripped, and she didn't care. She left us grasping at air, she could run like the wind.
She was the first one chosen next time we played. She turned up every afternoon. I don't know what happened to her, she could have played for Australia. She could play any sport. Her name was Patricia but we called her Pat.
Look it would be easy to get cranky with the Postie and mine doesn't ride a push bike anymore, he must drive a truck. But he's not going to park on the road and get out of the car to deliver my letters. I should say bills. It's been a long time since I had a letter.
So I'm just going to fix Posties skid mark. Luckily we sell of fabulous product here called Tim's Lawn Topdressing.
It's perfect for fixing Postie wheel marks. It's a river sand/compost and fertiliser mix, that makes grass grow faster. Simply fill in the hole. As the weather warms up, your grass will spread and the skidy will disappear.
We've had so much rain, that's why you're getting skid marks. There's seriously nothing the Postie could do.
Poor Postie gets the blame.
Poor old Postie.
Happy gardening
Tim
