You Can Grow Tomatoes In Pots! - Aug 18, 2023

Dear gardening friends
Our first Tomato seedlings for the year have arrived. It's very early, it's still winter but every year more and more customers want to plant their spring/summer vegetables early. If you live in a frost free area then you can plant now.
If you are still getting frosts then don't plant yet.

We have our Famous Tim's Fruit Fly Resistant Tomato here. This amazing cherry sized tomato, has a natural resistance to Fruit Fly. You don't need an nasty chemicals to grow this one to grow.

Why is it resistant to fruit fly?
This heirloom variety has a slightly thicker skin that the fruit fly can't sting. They can only enter the fruit if they split. It's truely amazing, and because it's an heirloom variety it has amazing taste. Back in Don Burkes day this was voted The Tastiest Tomato in Australia.

You can even grow this Tomato even if you don't own a garden. It will happily grow and fruit in a big pot. Simply plant it using Tim's Best Potting Mix.
put some stakes in the pot to support your tomato. It can grow 1.8ms high. The bushier it grows the more fruit you get. Tomatoes love water so make sure you water daily as the weather gets hotter. Tomatoes love the sun.
We will have all your favourite varieties.
So come and see us when the weather gets warmer.

I'm growing the most amazing crop of Garlic here, in my garden. Everything is looking so healthy and green. I love how the sun shines on the water droplets, it's beautiful.

I was having a competition with Hayden, to see who could grow the Biggest Broccoli. Because I wanted to win, it made me prepare my soil even better than usual.

Before planting this crop, I dug the soil over and removed any Curl grubs. Then I dug Tim's Cow manure and Tim's Chicken Manure into the soil.
(You need one bag of each for every 3m2.)

Then I dressed the soil with Garden Lime. This sweetens the soil, and increases the PH, so fertiliser becomes available to the plants.

I also fertilised the soil with Tim's FAST FOOD. This German made fertiliser adds all the nutrients that plants need, for plant growth.
It's amazing!!!!

Then I mulched the soil with fresh Sugarcane and watered this well. I let the garden rest for a couple of weeks, before planting.

You could follow this recipe for success, to prepare your garden, for spring planting.

I'll be harvesting my Garlic in October.
When the leaves start to turn yellow. It will last for 12 months in a dark place. It tastes amazing. I'll plant it again next June.

It's a beautiful day to be out in the garden. It will make you feel good.
Hayden grew bigger Broccoli.
He's got green toes.
Really green, ask him to show you.

I had a guy comment on Facebook recently "Who gives a sh-t what you have for lunch".
He was even more descriptive than that, and I laughed so much, as I was blocking him for life.

People do enjoy my recipes, and I've just eaten the most amazing lunch, and I'm sure it cost less than $4.00 to make.

I bought 4x Lamb Grillers from Woolies. Yes they had some fat on them, which I removed.
My dog loves fat.

I cut up those chops then dusted them with flour in a plastic bag. I tipped them into the slow cooker.

Then I added the following, all chopped up in cubes. 2 sticks Celery, 1x Egg plant, 1x Leek, 1x Onion, (You could add a Potato)
4x Cans of Tomatoes.
2x table spoons of Green Valley Spices Malaysian Curry powder, Cracked Pepper, 3x Anchovies, Worcestershire sauce, handful of Sultanas, Handful of Dried Apricots.

Cook all day on high, in the Slow Cooker. Add half a tub of Sour Cream before serving. It cools the Curry, so kids can eat it.
Serve with Rice.
This feeds 8 people.

When you cook yourself you eat better, you save money, you create less waste. It's better for everyone. Your kids grow up, healthy and strong. It's simple.

Now with the money you save, you can buy plants. Spring is coming. I can smell it.
It smells like curry.

You need to spray your lawn for Bindii desperately. If you leave it too late, the seeds develop, then it doesn't matter what you spray, it's too late, you'll be doing the Bindii Ballet all summer long. So will your dog. You won't be popular. I'm not even sure I'll still be talking to you.

We have the spray here, that will control Bindii, Clover, and other broadleaf weeds. It's called BIN-DIE. You spray it on your lawn when it's long. Yep don't mow it for 7 days before or after spraying.

Mix 30mls in 5 Litres of water. Add a squirt of Detergent. It makes it stick to the leaves better. Spray this over 50m2. Keep going over your grass until it's all gone. Spray again in 7-10 days to kill persistent weeds like Clover.

Keep your dogs off the grass, until the spray dries. That won't take long. Don't spray on windy days. The spray can drift on the wind, and cause damage to other plants. Don't spray if rain is forecast.

We do have other options, if you don't own a 5 litre sprayer. We have hose on bottles.
The Bindii Bomb is about to explode!
Just do it!!!!

Happy gardening
Tim
