Fast easy Christmas gifts!!! - Dec 16, 2022

There was a dead body on the cricket pitch.

Dear gardening friends

It's getting dry again. Who would have thought after all that rain, we would need to water, ever again.

I've noticed our lawn at work is going yellow in patches. The soil drys out in patches first, then the dryness spreads.

If you dig up one of these dry patches, you notice the soil is bone dry. It actually becomes water-repellent and it won't get moist again until we get heaps of rain.

These dry patches also appear in your gardens, and that's why it's so hard to get plants to grow in a particular spot. You've probably planted several shrubs here, and they always die.

You can help fix these dry patches by applying "Wettasoil". This agricultural detergent removes the oily barrier and lets the soil accept water. I've recently Wettasoiled all my indoor plants, and I've noticed they are now sprouting new growth.

As I'm writing this in my car it starts to rain, I look up, and clouds have appeared. We need rain. The windy weather we've had isn't good for gardeners. It drys out the soil so quickly and turns the grass yellow.

I'm not ready for summer.
I love the colour green.
It makes me feel good.

Our friend grows these for us.
They grow beautifully in a large pot on your sunny patio. They will take semi shade too. Make a tepee using 3 stakes to support the foliage.

Your plant will flower all summer and autumn. You will smell the sweet fragrance wafting through your windows.

This plant is so collectable it also makes a perfect Christmas gift for gardening friends. They won't have one. It's the best kept secret.

This double flowering form costs $43.99. Big plants are covered in buds and flowers. It smells delicious. How can a tiny flower, have such amazing fragrance?

We also have the single flowering variety which isn't as sexy or as collectable for $19.99. Follow your noses to Tim's Garden Centre. We will sell out.

Calm before the storm in Airds this week.
I was delivering bags of soil and noticed this beautiful Jacaranda tree up a side street. I thought I'll come back and take a photo of that. It was picture perfect.

Further up the street a dead body lay spread eagled on the cricket pitch. It was dressed in black. "That bodies going to get hot" I was thinking to myself.

After the delivery, I checked on the body, It had moved. He didn't make it home last night. The rain will refresh him.

We need this rain, the windy conditions recently, dried out the soil. You'll notice your grass is turning yellow, if it's getting reflected heat from roads and concrete.

The heat dries out Macarthur and makes it look harsher. It's a dry place normally. We've been spoilt with all the rain.

This tree made me smile.
Trees do that, they offer colour and sanctuary. I noticed the house under it had plants growing in pots. This little oasis made my day.

I'm still amazed how many people don't have street trees. I did a delivery yesterday to Raby and the street was treeless. I said to my customer "you need to plant two Crepe Myrtles on your nature strip". Do I? She replied. Yes you do, they will give you shade, but they will also stop you looking straight into those houses across the road.

Come and see us.
We'd love to see you before Christmas.
Happy gardening
Tim
