Bring your empty pots back please! - Sep 30, 2022

The pigs are cleaner than us!

Dear gardening friends

We potted on over 100 Tropical Fruit trees today, using pots taken from our pot recycling bin. Some of these pots are over 30 years old.

It's crazy to think these pots usually get chucked into the bin, and only get used once. Even if you put them into your recycling bin, they will be melted down, and so much energy gets used making them into more plastic things. Sometimes they get made into pots again!!!!
How stupid?

Our pot recycling bin that's in our car park never gets emptied by us. They get taken by us, to get used again in the nursery, and customers take them too. We've got a few backyard nurseries that come and clean out the bin. All these pots get used again and again. It's just so simple.

If every nursery and hardware store in Australia, had a pot recycling bin, just imagine how many pots would get reused?

More people would become gardeners. Kids might fall in love with growing things too. I can only see benefits.

If you've got empty pots, bring them back so gardeners can use them. It's a take or donate system, that really works.

We have amazing Succulents from just $3.99. Peter The Greek grows them especially for us.

"You won't believe how beautiful my plants are today Timmy". Is something I hear often.

Peter hand picks these succulents for us.
"It takes me all day", he tells me.
He displays them in the trays, so the colours and leaf shapes shine.

Yes he goes to a lot of trouble for you guys.
He loves us. We love Peter too.

Peter's nursery got hit by a hail storm in autumn. He was devastated.
His plants have recovered, they are looking fabulous. Please help us support Peter.

I met a real life hero last Sunday morning, Maria Da Silva was walking down Queen Street, picking up all the rubbish with her tongs.

I stopped and had a chat with her.
She's only new to Campbelltown, she's living in Dumaresq st, while her new house gets built in Camden.

"I'm cleaning up after the humans, the pigs are cleaner than us, I'm doing it for everybody. Our Planet is so bad. If everyone just cleaned up their own street, just think how much better it would be."

I saw Maria picking up the rubbish in Koshigaya Park a few weeks ago and I've wanted to meet her.

I couldn't believe my luck when I found her cleaning up Queen street at 8am.
She was reluctant to talk to me.
She's all covered up, she's not doing this for glory. But I said I might be able to help her.

She goes out twice a week. She walks at least 4kms, it keeps her fit too and she loves making a difference.

She reports rubbish trouble spots to Campbelltown Council. Sometimes there's just too much. She hates it when the bins are over flowing and rubbish blows everywhere.

She thinks young people don't care like her generation did. She's worried about our future.

A man stops to say hello to her. He knows her by name. She saw him drop a bottle on the ground six months ago and he hasn't forgotten the spray he copped.

The world needs more Maria's.
She's a quiet achiever.

I asked her if she will still come to Campbelltown when her house is finished?"No" she said "I'll be cleaning up around my new suburb, I can only clean where I live.
That's what everyone needs to do."
Thank you Maria.
She made my day.

This amazing White Wisteria is flowering in Camden. I've driven up this street hundreds of times, but never noticed this before. It's next door to Camden Mower and Chainsaw Centre.

I walked around this recently, thinking this should be famous, it's so beautiful. It's grown up over a frame so it looks like a Wisteria tree!!!
The fragrance was amazing.

We have White Wisteria here at the nursery.
We have the pink flowering one too. We still have a few blue but you'll have to hurry.

Japanese Blue Wisteria will be available next weekend. These are amazing!!!!

Hydrangeas have arrived, and they are covered in buds, so those beautiful ball like flowers won't be far away.

These old world shrubs, have made a come back. Everybody has fallen in love with Hydrangeas.

They grow best on the eastern side of your house. That's where the sun comes from every morning. So morning sun, and then shade.

You can grow them in other positions, but on those hot days in November, the plant will wilt in the afternoon, and look like it's dying of thirst. Which it will be.

Hydrangeas can be grown in big pots, but they have to be huge. Potting mix holds the water, the more potting mix you've got, the more water it holds, the better your thirsty plants will grow. It's simple.

Yes Hydrangeas dream about water, like I dream about King's chips with gravy.

We have your favourite Hydrangeas here now. We have the variety with copper coloured foliage too. It's called "Miss Saori".
Huge plants cost $29.99.
We have smaller plants for $19.99.
They look amazing.
You'll get your Tim's Garden Club Discount.

We have umbrellas. If it's raining you can still come and visit us. We are open all long weekend. On Sunday and Monday we are open from 9am -4pm. Saturday 8.30 -5pm.

Our Tim's Best Potting Mix is flying out the door. We've been selling 600 bags a week.
It's so nice knowing, that gardeners are going to have success, with this potting mix. Some people are buying 10 at a time.

We hope to see you this weekend.
It's a great time to garden.
It's never been greener!!!
Happy gardening
Tim
