Why is our Cow manure so good? - Aug 12, 2022
It's time to plant Tomato seeds!
Dear gardening friends
Hayden and I walked through Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden on our way to Luna Park during the week.
We were attending the Independent Garden Centres conference, at Luna Park.
We walked through the garden at first light. The perfect time to take photos. The colour green, and lushness of this garden, always wins me over.
You can see Wendy's White House, over looking her secret garden. It's beautiful.
It overlooks this amazing giant Port Jackson Fig.
There are formal and informal paths to follow. It would be such an adventure for kids. There's resting places for older people like me. It always fills me with wonder.
Spend 10 minutes here and it makes you feel good. Wendy built the garden for her own mental health, now it's helping other people too.
We saw her gardeners. They'd just started work. She pays them to garden.
It's on public land. Yes she's a guerrilla gardener.
It's in Lavender Bay.
Follow the path around from Luna park.
Take your lunch. It's very special, and it's looking fabulous, after all this rain.
It's time to spray Bindii, Clover and other broadleaf weeds in your lawn. We've got the solutions.
You need to spray before Bindii sets seeds or you'll be doing The Bindii Ballet all summer long. So will your pets.
Spray twice in 7-10 days for best results.
Don't mow your lawn for 3 days before or after spraying. Don't spray on windy days.
It can't rain for 24 hours.
Bindii sets seeds in September, once that happens it's too late to spray.
So don't delay.
We've had great success with Amgrow chemspray BIN-DIE. It's safe for all types of grass including Buffalo. It costs $15.99.
Come see us.
I'm loving this new pink flowering Lavender shrub called "Loveheart". It's been bred in Australia by Bob Cherry, for Australian conditions.
If you're replacing Lavenders that have died during all this wet weather, then this one might be a good choice.
It gets covered in flowers in Winter, Spring and Autumn. The flowers are amazing with big ears.
We've brought these plants all the way from South Australia for you. They are covered in flowers today. Big plants cost $18.99.
They are beautiful in pots or gardens.
We have lots of other varieties too!
Don't be tempted to buy Tomato plants and other spring seedlings just yet. It's safe to plant seeds, because by the time they sprout, it will be spring. We have the full range of spring/summer seeds here now.
Prepare your gardens now by digging Tim's Cow Manure into the soil. Add a dressing of Garden Lime and Tim's FAST FOOD Fertiliser. Then mulch with Sugar cane.
Water well and let it rest for a couple of weeks.
Remember Tim's Cow Manure is real
Cow manure. The others are selling Composted Cow Manure, which is 25% Cow Manure and 75% Green waste. That's why it's full of sticks and has no smell.
I'm cooking Butter Chicken tonight.
I cooked this recipe last week and it was a huge success. It's not like Butter Chicken you buy. I use real Chicken legs, and wings, instead of Chicken breast, and I slow cook it.
Here's the recipe if you want to try it.
It recently scored 9/10.
I'm trying Green Valley Spices Butter chicken this time. I've had great results with Hart & soul.
I don't follow the instructions.
Chop up fine, 1x stick of Celery, 1x Onion, 1x Leek, 1x clove of Garlic.
Put 1kg of Chicken legs or wings in slow cooker. Add chopped ingredients. 1x packet of Butter chicken, 1x table spoon of Curry powder, 3x Anchovies (hello).
Lots of pepper, lots.
3x cans of tomatoes.
Rinse empty cans, tip that in too.
Slow cook all day on low.
Before serving mix in 1/2 tub of Sour cream. It changes the colour to Butter chicken.
It makes it creamy.
Serve with rice.
This is so simple and easy to cook.
It will feed 4 with leftovers.
The chicken is so moist and delicious.
It's a 9/10. You'll love it.
Our nursery is full of spring stock.
Our rose bushes are starting to flower.
We have so many new release shrubs that will add so much colour to your garden.
It's a grey world.
We need more colour in our lives.
Flowers make you happy.
Come and see us.
Happy gardening
Tim
