Grow your own tree for free!! - Aug 05, 2022
Spring is coming!
Dear gardening friends
I got so excited this week when I saw Campbelltown City Council planting trees, in Dumaresq street Campbelltown.
This hot asphalt car park is getting a green makeover opposite Dumaresq Street Cinema. Garden beds have been constructed and filled with fresh soil.
Beautiful evergreen Native trees are getting planted. Eucalyptus and Water gums, all super advanced.
Tristaniopsis "Luscious" is a great choice, with its lush green leaves, and yellow flowers in summer. They have a mild sweet fragrance.
This car park has been transformed from an ugly duckling into a green oasis. It's a great start.
Let's hope this new attitude gets repeated around Macarthur. I'll do a story every time I see trees getting planted. Great news Campbelltown City Council.
More trees needed.
Grow your own tree for free!!!
We are giving away free seeds, so you can grow your own beautiful tree for free.
Illawarra Flame Trees grow beautifully in Macarthur. They have huge, lush green leaves, and these spectacular red flowers in November.
This fast growing native tree is easy to grow from seed. Simply plant your seeds in Tim's Best Potting Mix.
Soak them in water overnight.
Plant them, water once a week.
They usually pop up in 4 weeks.
Now is the perfect time to plant them. Get your kids involved, they would love growing their own tree.
Once it grows, pot up into a bigger pot. They could be used as a street tree. Take to school and plant in the playground. They are beautiful shade trees. I've planted a few around Macarthur.
They rarely need watering once planted. They are drought hardy trees but they also thrive when it's wet.
Pick up your 3 free seeds from the front counter today. Growing trees from seeds is so exciting.
Spring isn't far away.
If you stand on your tippy toes you can almost see it. It's close, very close.
"Purple Sun" is an Osteospermum that will knock your smelly socks off. See photo.
It's an improved form of African daisy, that doesn't self seed and become a weed.
It stays nice and compact. It grows 40cms high by 40cms wide. It flowers like this through late winter and spring.
It has a rest in summer, then it flowers like this again, right through autumn. It's a winner.
I love it.
These colours remind me of Africa.
You can grow it in a pot too using Tim's Best Potting Mix.
They love the sun.
Trim back by 20% when they look tired. Feed with Tim's FAST FOOD Fertiliser and they will flower again.
"Magnolia Magic" is happening around Macarthur. These spectacular trees have these huge pink tulip like flowers, leading up to spring.
This variety is called Magnolia soulangiana. It grows so well here in Macarthur, you'll see some beauties in flower.
We stock this because we know it's the best performing variety.
Beautiful plants cost $39.99.

Tylor's back from shooting the movie. He's got all the jargon now. He's not just a dead body anymore. Although he posed for us, with his best dead body. It was very dramatic. Bob, Shrek and Teddy were very impressed.
Tylor's been shot seven times now. They move him around. The producer even told Tylor "I love your dead body the best". The producer doesn't usually talk to extras, but he spoke to Tylor.
Tylor's been a Stunty once.
He filled in for a Stunty.
Stunties are super cool according to Tylor. You've made it if you're a Stunty.
The movie is running behind schedule, the rain isn't helping, plus it's a movie that has a lot of dead bodies.
The food is not real good now.
Tylor was skinny to start with now he's wafer. The chef quit yesterday.
That's all I can tell you.
Tylor's had to get up at 3am to catch the first bus into the city for filming. He has dark rims around his eyes today. But he's still smiling.
It's an adventure.
He's working this weekend.
Come talk to him.
Come and see us for all your gardening needs. It's time to spray your lawn for Bindii.
If you leave it too long, they will set seeds, and you'll be doing "The Bindi Ballet" all summer long.
It's time to plant flower and vegetable seeds for spring planting. We have seeds and seed raising mix.
Happy gardening
Tim
