“Silver Dragon” has arrived! - Oct 22, 2021

Sweet smelling vine, will reward you!

Dear gardening friends
Opposite Camden Woolies, is a Council Carpark. I'm not sure if you've ever tried to park your car in here, but if it's a big car, it's unlikely to come out, the same shape!

The architect must have owned a push bike.
But what they did get right, was the plant choice, and the landscaping.

I often admire it, as I walk past.
Today my nose caught the sweet fragrance from the Chinese Star Jasmine.

They have planted it to help green the chocolate brickwork.
It's growing beautifully.
It's an evergreen, fast growing climber, that will grow in sun or shade.

I often recommend this climber to homeowners, who forgot about leaving room for landscaping.

They have left 45cms between them and their neighbours, and they are hoping I can turn it into a green oasis.

I can, but they have to put some wire support, on their colourbond fence, so they can grow Chinese Star Jasmine.

After it finishes flowering you trim it like a hedge, with your hedge trimmer. It looks amazing. It's fast growing.
The fragrance is so sweet.
Some people are allergic to it.
We have plants in stock today.
Come see.

Collectors Plant Alert!!!!!
Alocasia "Silver Dragon" has arrived.
This fabulous, medieval looking plant, has these Dragon, scale like leaves. It's a compact growing indoor plant, that needs bright light.

Choose a room where the plant will get morning sun. Water it once a week.
Plants grow better, when you repot them into a bigger pot, straight away.

Choose a ceramic pot, from our amazing selection, and we will repot it for you for free today.

We really do have the most beautiful ceramic pot selection. Hayden has an eye for beauty, and he chooses us the most beautiful pots, from suppliers, from around Australia. You'll be surprised, how inexpensive they are too.

I saved this Hydrangeas life during the week.
"Hello" I said to our customer, "where are you going to put that pot?"
"On my sunny patio." Was the reply.

"That Hydrangea is going to die", was my response.

Hydrangeas have huge leaves, and huge flowers, they transpire a lot of water, so they grow better in morning sun or shade.

They love water, so they grow better in the ground, rather than in a pot, especially a tiny pot like this one.

They can be grown successfully in pots, but the pots have to be big.

How big is big?
A pot that holds at least 2-3 bags of premium potting mix is big.

Potting mix holds the water, so the more potting mix your pot holds, the more water it holds, the better your thirsty plants will grow.

Yes you have to be a good waterer.
A big pot, won't make much difference, if you're allergic to water, and the garden hose.

Plants can be grown in smaller pots, if you hook them up to a drip irrigation system, that comes on every day, during the summer months. Make sure you install the battery operated timer tap too. It will always come on, at the same time, every day.

This constant watering allows you to grow bigger plants, in smaller pots.

Saucers help plants survive longer without watering. These catch the excess water, and allow your plants, to have a bigger drink.

Grouping your plants together helps them survive. Each plant shades the others during those hot days. It's like you've created a potted rainforest. Each plant looks after each other.

It's also important to choose plants that like the conditions you've got.
You can't decide you're growing a Hydrangea, if you don't have the right conditions. (Morning sun then shade.)

Morning shade, and then afternoon sun, is not the same either. Afternoon sun, is more likely to kill plants.

If you've got little pots, put them in shady spots. Big pots go in sunny spots.
It's all about conserving water.

Good gardeners, are just gardeners who choose the right plants, for the right conditions. They don't just buy the plants they love, and hope for the best.

They also know how to keep water in their soil. They water more often.
They dig compost and cow manure into their soil. They mulch their gardens.

We have so many beautiful plants today.
You need to come and just have a walk around. It will be great therapy for you.
You will feel better after your visit.
