Grow your own Chilli?

Dear gardening friends

Our Rose bushes are bursting into bloom this week and I've been busy smelling all the flowers to find the most fragrant varieties.

This lemon yellow variety called "Winter Sun" caught my attention. This award wining rose originally came from Kordes Rose nursery in Germany. It's part of their Eleganza Series. These roses have been gathered together because of their elegance and exceptional disease resistance. The long stems make them perfect for picking and the fragrance will make your nose happy!

It was called "Winter Sun" because the blooms last well into winter. It has lovely lush green foliage with coppery coloured fresh new growth. Our plants are huge. They are covered in buds and flowers for you to enjoy. Plants cost just $29.99.
This Rose won best hybrid tea at the 2014 National Rose Trials so it's worth growing.

The bees are buzzing around our Citrus trees in the nursery. I bet they are buzzing around your Citrus trees at home too.
It's a critical time for Citrus trees. If you don't keep them well watered, most, or all of these flowers will fall off.

If you are growing Citrus trees in pots they need to be watered daily. If you are growing them in the ground water them with 10 litres of water twice a week. Citrus tree love water!!!!!!!

My "Kevin the Lemon tree" is covered in flowers at home. This dwarf variety will grow up to 2.5 metres high in the ground.
My tree produces up to 400 large, thin skinned, juicy lemons, every season.

There is much interest in growing Citrus trees in pots. A Lemon tree in a pot, will be lucky to produce 20 lemons a year, but grow that same tree on a mound of IGC Planting Compost, in the ground, and it will produce up to 400 Lemons every year!

Kevin is exclusive to Tim's Garden Centre. It's our biggest selling fruit tree. It was named after a former Prime Minister.
We have beautiful trees covered in Fragrant blooms for just $55.00. This is the juiciest lemon on the market.

Simon had to blackmail our Citrus grower with a promise of "free Chocolates" if they would deliver us Mandarin trees. There is a shortage of Citrus trees in Australia this spring so Simon is working his magic to get stock for our customers. We have 20 Mandarin trees this week. They will sell out fast because we could be the only nursery in Sydney who has them. These cost $49.99 less your Tim's Garden Club Discount.

We have beautiful Mango trees in the nursery this week. We only stock Bowen Mangoes. These are sometimes called Kensington Pride. It's the same tree.
These seedlings grown trees will flower within 12 months and produce huge sweet tasting Mangoes in May.

We often get asked for Dwarf Mango trees but these are not necessary in our cold climate. A seedling grown Bowen Mango tree will grow 3-5 metres high in 30 years in Macarthur. Plant your tree on a mound of IGC Planting Compost improved soil for best results. Mulch around the base with Sugar Cane to keep the soil moist.

I've noticed Passionfruit cost up to $1.00 each in fruit shops at times. This is crazy.
You can grow a Passionfruit Vine on your fence and get 300 Passionfruit for free every year. The best variety is a fast growing evergreen Vine called "Tim's Big Black Passionfruit".

This seedling grown variety, won't sucker and become a weed in your garden. It produces huge, Big Black Passionfruit in the first 12 months. Plant as per fruit trees above and water daily until it rains. Mulch around the base with Sugar Cane to keep the roots cool and moist. This variety is self pollinating so you only need one.

I bumped into Doctor John Swartz and he was happy to hear that we sold 50 of Arthur's Big Greek Tomato seedlings on the weekend. We've raised $250 for John's African Aides Foundation already. We still have several hundred seedlings available so you can help us raise more money.

Arthur's Big Greek Tomato has enormous fleshy tomatoes that taste delicious. Fruit can weigh up to a kilo. They have fewer seeds and can be used to make tomato sauce. Plants cost just $5.00 and all money raised goes to AAF.

Remember to grow beautiful big tomatoes, you need to water your plants, every day.
Stake Tomatoes when planting and tie them to the stake as they grow. Don't remove side shoots. You get more tomatoes if you let them grow wild. Stake branches to support the heavy fruit.

New season Chilli plants have arrived.
We have the hottest varieties in Australia. Some of them have a heat rating of 13 out of 10. We have milder heat rated Chilli plants too. Grow them in your garden or grow them in pots using Tim's Best Potting Mix. They like a sunny spot with daily watering. Fruit will be ready to harvest after Christmas. Plants cost $5.25 or buy 4 for $20.00.

We have been so busy at the nursery. Come and see us if you need some help.
Happy gardening
Tim
