Make your house smell like Christmas - Dec 09, 2016

Dear Gardening Friends,

A Fresh Cut Christmas Tree will make your house smell like Christmas. When you come home from work and open the front door you will smell that lovely pine fragrance. If you had a real tree as a kid then this will bring back great memories for you.

This weekend we have another 200 trees getting delivered during the night from our Christmas tree farm in The Southern Highlands. They have been hand pruned for 3 years until they are the perfect Christmas tree shape, but because they are real every tree is different. Walk through our forest of trees before one talks to you. Trees cost $65.00 less your Tim's Garden Club Discount.

It has been so hot lately, it's a good time to look at your garden and see if you can fit a shade tree in somewhere. Trees cool the air around your house and they also stop the sun shining in through your windows. On a hot day there is nothing nicer than sitting outside under your tree in your favorite chair with a cool drink.

One of the best shade trees for small gardens is a Crepe Myrtle. We have the Indian Summer range of Crepe Myrtles that are resistant to powdery mildew.
These varieties flower for at least 100 days and they seem to grow faster. We have beautiful plants for just $24.99.

I spotted this beautiful dwarf growing flowering gum in the front yard of a house in Elderslie last week. The house was actually for sale and I think this tree could add an extra $10,000 to the value of the house. The bright orange flowers were amazing. The Native birds and bees were having a lovely time collecting the nectar.

These Dwarf Flowering Gums only grow about 3 to 5 metres high so they are perfect for small gardens. They make a lovely shade tree and they flower for months. Later you get the lovely seed pods that hang down like Christmas bells. These trees need lots of care when you first plant them and they need to be watered at least twice a week for best results.

Dunk your plant in a bucket of water prior to planting and use IGC Planting Compost to get it started. If you don't water them, they will die. We have plants from $59.99. Colours include Red, Orange, White and Pink.
They are grafted plants so they can flower within weeks of planting. I love these trees and there are some beauties around Macarthur.

We are always looking for new plants to tempt our Garden Club Members. Grevillea Wattlebird Yellow has these bright yellow flowers all year round. Yellow Grevilleas usually grow 3 to 4 metres high but this little beauty only grows 1.2 metres high making, it perfect for small gardens. Its a grafted plant, so it is more likely to survive in our horrible clay based soils. It is still a good idea though to plant it on a mound of IGC Planting Compost improved soil for best results. This Grevillea will attract birds and bees into your garden all day long.
Plants cost $44.99 and supply is limited.

We have Lipstick Euphorbia's growing out the front of our shop in terracotta pots and they seem to flower every day of the year. This succulent plant can survive on rain water only during normal weather, but when its dry like it is now, you should water it at least once a week. This plant is almost death proof so if you're a brown thumb then try one of these. Plants cost $18.99 and they are covered in hot pink flowers right now. In winter stop watering this plant for best results.

Pig has borrowed Rudolphs Antlers this week as he goes into camouflage mode to survive the Christmas feast. Santa's not happy, but Pig and Rudolph have been great friends for years.

If you can't decide on what to buy your friends for Christmas don't forget about our $50.00 Christmas Gift Cards for only $40.00.
Come see us at the nursery this weekend.
