Christmas Trees are Coming!!! - Nov 25, 2016

Dear Gardening Friends,
Our famous fresh cut Christmas trees are arriving next weekend. They've had a great growing season in The Southern Highlands so the trees have never looked better. We will have trees most days leading up to Christmas. A fresh cut Christmas tree makes your house smell like Christmas. Trees are $65.00 this year and we have Xmas tree stands too.

NSW Christmas Bush is one of our biggest sellers leading up to Christmas Day. Customers buy them to give away as gifts and some people even use them as a Christmas tree. The red bells really do look amazing right now. If you're growing one in a big pot use our Native Potting Mix. If you're planting one in the ground, then mix a bag of Native potting mix with your garden soil. They do need lots of water to get them started. We have plants from $15.99 but these biggies are just $29.99. We have a free gift wrapping service too!

Our Hydrangeas are looking fabulous. These Lace Cap Hydrangeas are my favourites. These make inexpensive flowering gifts.
Imagine a big bunch of flowers like this with roots attached for less than $30.00.
They can be kept inside for a week or two, then you plant them in your garden or in a big pot. They like morning sun and then afternoon shade.

Paw Paws have arrived!!! 20 years ago we wouldn't have dreamed about growing Paw Paws in Campbelltown. But Macarthur is getting warmer with so many cars, houses, roofs, concrete and asphalt here now you can grow tropical fruit trees. Plant your Paw Paw up against a brick wall facing north or west for best results. We have Bisexual Paw Paws for just $15.99. You only need one to get fruit. Plant on a mound of IGC Planting Compost improved soil to have success.

Gardenias have burst into bloom this week in gardens around Macarthur. Gardenias really are one of my favourite shrubs with those glossy green leaves and those perfumed white flowers. They grow well in pots or gardens and the perfume wafts through windows and makes your house smell nice. They will grow in sun or shady spots but the flower buds get burnt if they get the afternoon sun. We have plants here from $6.99. My favourite variety is Gardenia Florida. It can be used for hedging too!

Rose bushes are being attacked by Two Spotted Mites. These tiny insects sit under the leaves and suck out the nutrients. These insects thrive during hot dry weather. Spray your roses with Yates Rose Shield. Spray Fuchsias, Petunias and other plants that are growing under your eves. Tomato plants get attacked by Two Spotted Mites too.

You can still plant Arthur's Big Greek Tomato plants. We have beautiful healthy plants for just $4.50. All money raised goes to AAF in Camden. Arthur's Big Greek tomato has huge sweet tasting fruit with less seeds.
It really is delicious. It can be grown in the garden or in a big pot. If you're Greek, got a moustache, or ever watched "My big fat Greek Wedding", then you must grow one of these.

Frangipani plants arrived yesterday.
We have over 20 varieties including the hard to find red flowering Frangipanis. These small growing trees thrive in those hot dry gardens. They can also be grown in big pots on sunny patios. You can plant two varieties in the one pot so you get different coloured flowers all summer long. Plants cost just $24.99 or but 2 for $40.00.

Pig was almost Roast of the Day this week.
It was so hot, he could smell bacon cooking.
If your garden needs more shade come and see us. Now is the best time to plant a shade tree in your garden. Plant one on your nature strip to keep your car cool.

Come and see us if you need help in the garden.
